| CE3K is my favorite theatrical release about aliens and alien contact ever released. I have recently re-watched it, and was surprised at how relevant and how well it holds up today.
The movie is quite emotional, from Barry being kidnapped to the final contact at the end of the movie. The questions of why this is happening to me resonate so true to those who have had such experiences. At least the movie gives some answers, but leaves many of the questions open for the audience to decide for themselves.
This one is still Steven Spielberg's masterpiece. |

| For me it was some of ther Star Wars movie resonated with me in the viewing of some of the home planets that Lucus creative on screen, I felt like I was looking at places I'd been before. I enjoied Close Encounters of the Third Kind and felt there was more truth in that movie than had been out there up to that time and its still has more truth in it then most do now. | |

| One thing I liked about the original CE3K was that it let the viewer imagine what was inside the mother ship. The viewer was left to ponder the mysteries the movie gave us, and that is not done very much anymore. Most movies have to answer all the questions or else lose an audience. |

| If you was in that situation at the end of the movie and it was for real, who would have boarded the mother ship? | |

Actually, that was the special edition which was released in 1980. The edition now shown on TMC is the original without Roy inside the ship. I thought the newer edition was tacky as the imagination should of done the job. Mr Spielberg has since realized that and the original is back in circulation.
Yes, I would of gone inside the mother ship and gone to another planet.

| What's to fear, the ones they bought back looked fine and I'm to much of a snoop not to want to see inside. | |

| oooh, i was too young to remember all the details of watching this on tv, but i am guessing it was an edited-for-tv version. i hope the Director's Cut is available at the library. might be a good family-fright-night viewing this summer! | |

| I just recently bought the anniversary DVD version of this movie, and it was also the first time I had seen it as well. I quite enjoyed it, despite how aged the movie is. | |

| Just watched CE3K, for the fourth time since it came out. Something I never noticed until this time. Near the end of the film, where the crowd of technisions are moveing closer to the crafts opening, the camera pans across the crowd and stops on Dr. Allen Hynek, as he puts his pipe to his mouth. He was once the scientific advisor to the Air Forces project Bluebook. I guess Spielburg gave him a walk on cameo role to acknowledge his contribution to the study of UFOs'. Odd how tiny things go un-noticed... Bill Thomas/Saberjet Wet In Fla. | |
