Lesley, the biggest problem I have is when many of these fringe personalities and authors suggest their theories are true. They seem to be jumping the gun, when flying saucers have yet to be proven by science. It should be done one step at a time, and proving there is a phenomena should be the top priority. That does not mean there is no room for theories or discussions of purpose, just that the main theory needs the most work. Until there is proof that flying saucers and/or other phenomena is real, the other discussions should take more of a back seat.
There is no more proof today of flying saucers than there was in 1947, when the mass sightings started. Over 60 years, and ufology is in the same boat.
