The problem with the outrage of the FAQ ATTAQ

The comment
"Mostly fat, lazy white men with too much time on their hands, a radio microphone as a phallic enhancement near their lips, and hate hate hate dribbling out in sad, impotent spurts."

only makes the author sound like the very same people spewing the hate.

Last time I checked Nancy wasn't fat or male and she didn't have any type of radio show. There is a big difference between attacking people for no good reason and getting pissed off at the fat white men that attacked you first. I might also add that unless there are open lines and people can call in -- there is no way to defend yourself to the people listening to the show (other than writing something like FAQ ATTAQ), you just have to sit there and take it. Of course, that is also why such people like having shows, they have free reign to say whatever they want without anyone being able to disagree or argue with them. What is written here is very public and allows for comments on the exact content by anyone that wishes to post them.

The point I'm trying to make is the need to make generalizations like "Mostly fat, lazy white men" only shows how the author degenerates in the same way as the people making the very sad, impotent spurts she was referring to.

IM new here and I just logged on and was going to subscribe to the UFO magazine UNTIL i read that Fat White Man quote along with it's vulgar innuendos!

Aggressive or slanderous messages, as well as personal insults and critics, the coarseness and vulgarities, and more generally any message contravening the French laws are prohibited.

You should really practice what your own web site preaches!

You may make any excuse you'd like but I for one as a new person and first time visitor found that extremely offensive. No IM not fat but yes I am white and IM sick and tired of die hard liberal articles and stereo typing such as that front page article/statement.

Well here's one WHITE Male that will no longer think of subscribing to this magazine! You lost me! Only purpose of my registering to this forum was to post my reply.

Let's see how long this reply will last here? After 35 years involved in the UFO field I find that article and your defense of it very unprofessional no matter how you try and justify it.

What a way to greet new readers and to post such an article on your main web page says a lot about your magazine and website.

I wonder if that Article would have said Fat White woman, Black Woman/Male, Hispanic etc would go over. This article is nothing but the authors racisim against over weight White men!

methinks it's not totally necessary to take someone's emotional ventings that are very *specifically* targeted as a reponse to others [but may seem like generalizations] personally, and then hold that against the whole organisation.

lol!!! That someone could be that outraged by such a (in terms of vulgarities) mild statement aimed at specific people I think has to be fake outrage. If not, feel free to unsubscribe because you are bound to be outraged by something in the magazine as well -- you seem to be very easily offended. As they say, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

I am a white male who is also fat. I did not take offense to the quote as it can be quite true. People need to be less sensitive, and that includes other groups instead of just white men. I can see why some others may be upset because of all the blatant racist quotes and stereotypes from the not too distant past from Hollywood. (I still am surprised by some of the stereotypes seen in the 1960s sitcoms of the day.)

There are many politically incorrect comedians I find funny, so I am against censorship even more. I thought the SNL skits with the blind New York Governor were tasteless and very funny. Let's all get off our high horse on this one.

I am a fat white man with a radio show. I take zero offense to the FAQ. You have to read between the lines and figure that the FAQ is a response to the online antics of specific people, not slander against all fat white men with shows. It's a good way to answer the critics without naming names and causing yet another useless fight in ufology.

I am sorry if I offended any male persons of corpulence who aren't hate-mongers, which of course would be most of the population, thank goodness.

I just got fed up with getting attacked and wanted to go on the record, and I can see where it is harsh.
