| This is a picture of a living alien that I took. Well at least at the time I took it. I am not sure how to post it here. But I will be happy to e-m it to any one intrested. included in the picture is the time and date camera and all of the settings. If any one can prove it is not a living alien then I shall be pleased to ask that they addintifie it for what it is. Glider you up for the challenge.

| Ok. but you have to understand. I took a series of pictures of the thing. Most of them were out of focus cause it was headed at me faster then the camera could adjust. This one is the best of the bunch I cropped it to make the file a smaller size. ssSThe cropped photo is 7.5 by 9.5 inches no zoom and no retouching. In the photo arround the tail? back end? there seems to be some kind of transparent fringe. I wasn't afraid of it. I got the camera cause I wanted a couple of pictures of it. I was watching the screen when it stopped (the only good Picture) When it jumped,my wife screamed and I looked up. I didn't see where it went and niether did she. She was pulling me away. I've spent a week looking for it. Capture or kill, I haven't found it. O.C. I have been in some of the most aboreal rainforest in the world and I have never seen any thing like this. You have to understand, we were in my drive way getting ready to do a yard sale. When it appeared It was peering over the top of a box. I told the wife to keep an eye on it while I ran and got the camera. When I got back and started taking pictures is when it started moving towards me. So you tell me what it is? A new species of insect or an alien? In fact a consciences of opinion would be of help. Could be just a big bug? I've home based at this house for many years and have never seen any thing like this before. I even have pink glass snakes under the ground here. | |

| OK - got first answer:
This is definitely not a spider at all. The legs (the 3 pairs touching the ground) are not at all like spider legs, but have all the structure of insect legs. The 2 things sticking off to the sides that look like legs are probably actually the antennae. Also, spiders do not have a segmented abdomen.
As to what kind of insect, someone with a wider familiarity with insects than me might be able to tell, but I don't recognize it. It would help to know where on the planet it was from. Australia? Alaska? Each place has different species.

| well kinda more information back of the antenna/feelers on thes front end apear to be three compound eyes. The black areas on the six legs apear to be lfurry. The back end is raised verticaly. I took the picture and I did not alter any of it. What you see on the back end is what is on the back end. By the way I have never seen any thing with three eyes. In the insect world I think there are only two compound eyes. It has to be either a new species of insect (six leggs not eight) two feelers?antennas or some thing alien to this planet. No wings or carpice cover for wings. The leg set up reminds me of the thing in the arena in star wars. It did seem to be agressive when we first saw it. Only when I got the camera, then it came towards me. Oh look over the black fur at the top joint can you see the white there. black fur and white joints? A bug. I have never seen any thing like that. The photo graph was taken here at my house beside my drive way. In the afternoon while my wife and I are setting up for a yard sai. I did not see it un till the waving antenna started over the container, the container I was working on. Oh, the antenna are located in front of the eyes. Look at the color combination. Evers see a bug that gaudey? Butterflies have color davefair. | |

You are the arbiter of who isn't welcome here? i must have missed some sort of swearing-in ceremony. At any rate, that pattern bordering the abdomen certainly looks out of place. Do you have any other photos taken from a different angle? Also, why would this barely odd looking insect make you think it was an "alien?" There are plenty of weirder looking insects around. http://www.marcofolio.net/inspiration/50_pictures_of_amazingly_colourful_insects.html

| O.C. I donot consider you to be a debunker. The camera is 15 yr old sony macivia, A 3.5 meg one I believe. I wasn't aware of an aroura arround the body. Just that thing arround the tail. I did not in any way alter or ad to the picture. No retouching or color change. No filters of any type. So Iwas unaware of it. Now we have established that it is a nmyph stage of a bug. Is there any way to prove that it is an earth bug? Is it possible that it is indeed an alien? Dave(the more confused then ever)fair | |

| Oc, not that I am past pulling your leg a little. A good joke is not to be wasted. Try this one on for size how about a force field?and just maybe the generator is located in the tail. After all if it is an alien maybe it brought some protection with it. Would travel to mexico with out your own source of bottled water? Dave( )fair | |

| Got a reply from Prof. Michael D Breed of Colorado University:This looks like an immature leaf-footed bug. The elements are the long antennae and how the lower segments of the legs are flattened. Hope this helps. Mike This pic also has an outline around the body, and may represent, to whatever extent, what was around the body of the bug in Dave's pic.
I dunno - I don't do bugs LOL ...http://bugguide.net/node/view/296652/bgimagehttp://bugguide.net/node/view/296651/bgimageFlorida Leaf-footed Bug (Acanthocephala femorata) The Florida Leaf-Footed Bug (Acanthocephala femorata) is a species of insect in the order Hempitera. The genus name Acanthocephala means spiny head and was so named from the pointed tylus at the tip of the head. This bug is found in the southern United States (North Carolina to Florida, west to Oklahoma and Texas), on brush and small trees in forests, woodlands, and old fields. The lower rear legs are wider than the upper legs, with serrations. This is especially pronounced in the male. It has an oddly shaped body, and long, slim, curving antenna. The Florida Leaf-footed Bug is noted for the orange tips on the antenna. The body is sometimes nearly black, although it may be reddish brown. The male hind femur is greatly swollen and bearing a large spike; the female hind femur is slender and bearing several small spikes. http://cristian-m.deviantart.com/art/Leaf-footed-Bug-40D0013446-102819084
