Actually at one point in my military carrer I worked for the quartermaster general for the army. For bieng a pompus ass, he passed patton like he was standing still. He was the man responcible for Somlia. It would seem that since the generals were responcible for the planning of the operation. Of course bieng generals they could'n't ask the navy for any advice. So they loaded all of the heavy armor and artilllery on to a large deep draft ship. They didn't take into account that the water was too shallow to bring the ships into port to off load. In most casses of that nature the navy would have sent smaller ships, known as lighters along to take the stuff to shore. Helicopters are nice to have but not naerly as good as a m1a1 main battle tank. That 120mil main gun is impressive when it goes off. In order to recover the folks from downed
black hawk they had to borrow some armored cars from the itailns. The generals name was Paul Vander Ploog. He's retired now (thank God)
Now Storming Norman that was a generals general. I kinda expected the man to be the same. thank god he wasn't He was well loved by all of his troops.
The funny part is they both retired tampa fla, where i am at..
