I have banned the member that was posting spam today and sadly I had to change the settings so that all new members are approved by me. Mad

Just to add one more thing -- those posts made no sense even for spam and I can't help but think it was done only to annoy members of this forum. Yeah, I am paranoid.

I agree it's a sad day, at least by you verifying new members the members archive will stay intact. Things shared by hundreds of people with experience with something in common. Thankyou for your vigilance Lesley!

I take back my paranoid comment. After checking the stats I found that the spammers came from Africa so I don't think it was personal and it explains why the spam made no sense because they probably don't speak English. Very Happy

With a check on the new members - will that slow down the intake?

Maybe a little, but it shouldn't be a problem. Hopefully I can weed out the spammers. Just now I approved someone that seemed to have a real email addy, but I suppose he could be a spammer.

I've been on the net for what - 16 years? Once upon a time it was nice, it was quiet; you didn't even need antivirus. Today you need antivirus, antispyware, cleaner programs, and that still may not be enough. There is a sub-species of humans out there with the IQ of a dead frog. The happy days are over.

My bad, but sometimes it is hard to tell who is a spammer and who wants to be legit member of the forum. I would hate to make every possible new member email me personally, but I may have to.
