What i did not like it in this article it is the last paragraph:
" A UFO trailed by a fan-shaped white light appeared last Wednesday in Urumqi, Northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. The unidentified flying object was later identified as debris from an intercontinental missile launched by the US, according to Song Huagang, secretary general of the Xinjiang Astronomy Society, speaking earlier to the Xinjiang Metropolis Daily."
Ya right....

Update: See UFO that Closed China Airport
A photo taken by a resident in Hangzhou shows an unidentified flying object hovering over Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, late Wednesday, July 7, 2010.
According to government reports the UFO may have a military connection.
...A source with knowledge of the matter, however, told China Daily on Thursday that authorities had learned what the UFO was after an investigation.
But it was not the proper time to publicly disclose the information because there was a military connection, he said, adding that an official explanation is expected to be given on Friday....(source)
Perhaps the official Chinese explanation of a possible military connection is just a cover so as not to overly concern the Chinese people.

UPDATES FROM CHINA INCIDENT!
Well i would say this is really a mysterious case. This is a UFO. I do not see yet humans to have such advanced military craft able to fly like this. I can't see how the Chinese government would give explanations to these images.(of course if they are real ones- because always we have to think on that too)

It looks like a giant fluorescent lamp - Imagine having to change that bulb!
If those photos are real, that's pretty astonishing. Thanks for linking to those pix, mags.

I can't wait to hear the official explaination for this. So, they said they would give their "official explaination" on Friday. Ok, so, Friday would have been July 9th. It's now Friday July 16th. I haven't heard an official explaination yet.

I can't really put my finger on it, but there is something amiss about this story.
It appears that this story is just one more in the long list of " Let's See What We Can Make People Believe Today" events.
We see these sensational reports come up on the internet and everyone sends it to everyone else and soon it is a world wide phenomenon in just a few hours. Then as it is investigated, it just drops off the radar and we are left wondering what is going on. I suspect that something happened at the airport and it was shut down. I also suspect that someone felt that it was a great way of gaining attention and created the UFO story along with the photos, so that it would get the attention that it has. Reports would jump on this and be providing any information that they could get. I have not seen any. So I guess it is up to the individual as to whether they believe it or not. I would love to believe it, but my gut is telling me that it is just like the pyramid in Russia. It was all a stunt.

Gort, you're probably right. But, I never saw the Russian pyramid story on Yahoo, ABC, or MSN. This China thing is all over the main stream media. That's not something that happens every day.

Ok, seriously folks, what is going on over in China???
One of those experts, Zhang Yunhua, has studied some of the photos submitted by eyewitnesses. It is his opinion that the photos show reflections of sunlight on airplanes.
In my opinion he is a ridiculous.

July 12, 2010 - Dozens of vertical luminous beams appeared in the night sky of Xiamen about 11:30pm last Friday, reports Southeast Express.
The singular sight, which lasted for nearly one hour, was first discovered by Mr. Wang's friend, a resident in Huangcuo, near Xiamen’s famous Huandao Road.
According to Mr. Wang, his friend first saw several luminous beams in the sky and then told them to go outside and take a look. They were stunned by the sight before their eyes.
“At first, there were only five of them, hanging very low in the sky, but after a short while, the number increased to about 50, and they were higher and higher, just like a stave hanging in the sky,” Mr. Wang said.
The Xiamen meteorological observatory said no such astronomical phenomenon was monitored by the observatory. “But it was not a meteor shower,” a staff member said. source: www.whatsonxiamen.com

On July 14, 2010 many people reported witnessing UFO activity over the Shapingba district of Chongqing, China. The sightings started near 8:00 in the evening and lasted for approximately one hour and 40 minutes . One photo of the incident shows three lights in a triangular form and another arrangement of lights nearby with a less discernible shape.
