There is a counter argument to the approach here made by those who have looked into the usage of certain icons in the religious art of the period. However, this does not rule out "icon usage" to implya particular idea. Another possible usage of icons appears in the Jetons that were all over UFO pages some years back. A "shield in the sky" was allegedly a representation of the idea of "protection over the land." However, again, this does not mean that the usage in some cases wasn't a "borrowed idea" used by those who knew. I find this one particularly interesting because the said "protection" is dealing with an attack from - the sky. The translation around the "shield", if I remember right, was: Resisted with a few, overcome by many." This was about the time when those who knew slowly began to vanish ... probably being absorbed by the Secret Society enlargement movement that was just beginning. The last anomaly that popped up was the so-called 10 Letter Code at Shugborough House in the 1700s; it decodes in the same way as the Voynich manuscript - the base language used is Hebrew. The context concerns "the eye" and what happened 5400 years ago.
This is all anomalous period "stuff" like Nostradamus, who not only knew what had happened 5000+ years ago, he knew when it happened and what the outcome was. I wonder where he picked up THAT information?
