PostSubject: Hello From Barberton, OH   Tue Aug 31, 2010 9:12 pm

My name is Steven and I live in Barberton, OH. I've been researching the UFO phenomenon for some time now, and find it so hard to believe with all the evidence provided, there are still people who want to explain them away, or not even entertain the extraterrestrial hypothesis.

I have witnessed one UFO in my life, just last year, and I believe it was not of any flying machine I could name. In my heart, I believe it was not of this world. It certainly didn't sound like any flying machine I've ever heard, since it was totally silent. And most folks don't fly round black spherical shaped gliders at midnight. Not that I've ever known of, that is. I submitted the complete story to the Sightings database on the main site.

Anyway, I just recently discovered UFO Magazine, and found it to be a wonderful read, and I look forward to participating in this forum.

Hey Steven 8 in Barberton...

I had to respond as you rang a chord in me. Another fan of the magazine from Korea wrote and I responded to him this way:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
UFOs seem to exist from as far back in time as men have been writing on paper or painting with soot on cave walls, eh? Moreover, crashed UFOs and UFOs in combat with jets have been noted since 1947 and this contention exists to present time.
UFOs are real, according to Stanton Friedman, Richard Dolan, Frank Feschino, Robert Hastings, and Leslie Kean. These are gentlemen and women (et sig al) performing arduous researches and studies on UFOs for many years... if unhindered by guile, bias, or anthropomorphism.
Additionally, if I hold a grain of sand at arm's length anywhere in the night sky, the sky so covered by that sand grain is filled with more galaxies of stars than there are stars in the desert sky over Area 51, eh? These galaxies behold so much space, time and surface area even God can't shake a stick at it.
Now, I can't prove what might have evolved on that near endless amount of surface area described, but I suspect something must have...
Why?
We are our own proof of extraterrestrial life in a physical universe where what can happen, happens... and happening, promotes the accelerated ease of a subsequent happening. Nothing happens once, guys.
Gentlemen and ladies, we "happened." We ourselves prove the concept that intelligently self-reflecting life can happen... Extraterrestrials seem obvious when we cannot presume upon an arrogance that we were first in the universe, eh?
My suspicions are that UFOs are real, and that they are piloted by intelligences not our own. That's the long and tall, eh?
Thanks for the note!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

...And thanks for your note, S. Enjoy UFO Magazine! I assert that the magazine —where the Publisher has a Law Degree and a doctorate in history, while the Editor In Chief graduated Summa Cum Laude from Princeton— shows a serendipity, sincerity, and seriousness seen in no other magazine of its type. We're a "colony" first, eh? All the rest are first business ventures, imo.

Thank for reading!

Thank you for the welcome guys!

Dave, Barberton is just southwest of Akron. It's darn near close enough to be called a suburb.

Alfred, guile, bias, and anthropomorphism have to be avoided at all cost. Although bias can be gained when evidence becomes overwhelming. It then ceases to be bias, and becomes knowledge. People fear aliens right out of the shoot because of anthropomorphism. Look at how we are. The only reason we would fly over other people's nations/military sites silently would be to gather info for nefarious purposes. Thus we project our motives on aliens, whom we truly have no idea how they might react or feel. They may have no emotions such as we know, and we find that scary as well, because we ourselves know that our non-emotional scientists use 'lesser life forms' to perform horrible experiments. Then again, our own scientists and our government use humans both aware and unaware when they feel the need. And there is no need for guile if the research part is done correctly.

In that case, Stanton Friedman has a point about why aliens don't contact us.

I just finished reading Richard Dolan's first volume of UFOs and the Security State. I would call it a first rate, definitive example of quality scientific research in every respect.

I truly look forward to being here and having some excellent conversations.

Oh cool! I can't wait to read it. The library hasn't ordered a copy yet. I'll see where I can get it locally. Don't want to buy off the web.
